Constitution and By Laws

Article I: NAME AND PURPOSE
Section 1--This organization is known as the “Faverolles of USA”, (herein called the Club).
Section 2--The Club’s purpose is to support and promote the Faverolles, through meets, publicity, and encouraging the public interest.

ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP
Section 1--Membership is open to anyone who wishes to become part of our club and abide by our policies.
Section 2--The Secretary/Treasurer shall receive persons into membership upon their applying for same and paying one years dues. ​Membership dues agreed on are $18.00 per year and $10.00 per year for youth​, Canada/International- U.S. funds only. Dues run from date of join to the corresponding date of the following calendar year. Members will receive an email notification 30 days prior to the expirations date of membership.

ARTICLE III: OFFICERS
Section 1--The club shall be governed by the membership through the following elected officers: President, Vice President and Secretary. These three offices shall constitute the Executive Committee.
Section 2-- The club shall also have an Election Commissioner who shall be elected by the membership at annual meetings.
Section 3--The Club Treasurer will be by appointment of the President.

ARTICLE IV: DUTIES OF OFFICERS
Section 1--The President will be recognized as the Chief Executive Officer of the Club, preside at all meetings, call special meetings and be chairman of the Executive Committee. He/she can appoint committees ​or individuals​ as necessary to accomplish Club objectives.
Section 2--The Vice President shall serve in the absence of the President and shall be advanced to the office of the president should that office become vacant for any reason.
Section 3--The Secretary shall be responsible for the following duties:
1. All correspondence. Upon request of the President or Vice President, the Secretary may be responsible for correspondence received by them.
2. Mailing to the membership not less than three newsletters per year and the annual membership directory.
3. Record and maintain a file of minutes of all meetings of the Club and Executive Committee.
4. The Secretary may want an Assistant Secretary to perform specific duties. This appointment will be made by the President.

Section 4--The election Commissioner will receive the mail ballots from the membership, tally them and forward the results along with the ballots to the Secretary and notify the President of the results.
Section 5--The Treasurer shall be responsible for the following duties:
1. Keep accurate list of the membership, deposit dues, and issue membership cards.
2. Pay Club debts.
3. Provide books/checks to Executive Committee for an audit. Receipts must accompany all checks.
4. Provide the Secretary with a quarterly financial credit/debit report for publication in the newsletter.

ARTICLE V: ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Section 1--The President, Vice President and Secretary shall be elected by the membership to serve a two year term. Such elections will be held every two years by mail ballots to all membership in good standings. The ballot shall be prepared by the secretary and sent to the membership between November 1 and December 1. Ballots are to be returned to the election commissioner and must be postmarked no later than December 15. Nominations may be made before November 1 of the election year by notifying the secretary or at the annual Club Meeting. The Election Commissioner shall tally the ballots and forward them to the secretary and notify the incumbent President of the results before January 1. A simple majority of votes elects or decides an issue. Only members in good standings, agreeing to serve, will be placed on the ballot. Elected candidates will be notified promptly by the incumbent Secretary.
Section 2--Elected officers take office on January 1 following the election.

ARTICLE VI: OPERATING MEANS
Section 1--Material means for operating the Club shall be derived from donations of money, awards, supplies and services by its members and annual dues. The Club shall not be committed to any expenses or expenditures for which it does not have funds available.

ARTICLE VII: ANNUAL NATIONAL MEET and ANNUAL CLUB MEETING
Section 1--An annual National Meet shall be held each year at a location decided upon by the membership at the annual meeting or by ballot the previous year. Consideration will be given to rotating the national meet geographically through areas where members reside. The Club will offer prizes, trophies, or other means of recognition.
Section 2-- the club will hold an Annual Meeting at the National Meet. Members present at the Annual Meeting shall constitute a quorum. These meetings are for conducting Club business.

ARTICLE VIII: CLUB MEETINGS
Section 1-- To encourage increased interest in breeding and showing Faverolles, various Club Meets, when requested by the membership, will be authorized by the club through the Secretary/Treasurer. Awards for these meets will be decided by the membership, either by mail ballot or at the annual Club Meetings.


ARTICLE IX: RATIFICATION
Section 1--This Constitution and By-Laws shall go into effect after receiving a simple majority of votes cast by the membership.

ARTICLE X: AMENDMENTS
Section 1--Be it understood, this constitution and by-laws shall be recognized procedure for our advancement. Any proposition or amendment for altering or changing this constitution and by-laws must be approved my receiving a simple majority of votes cast by the membership.
